PacStar Forms Expert Panel on Classified Wireless for Information Assurance Symposium 2017
World-class Experts in Wireless Technologies for Defense Expeditionary Communications to Share Challenges and Lessons Learned
PORTLAND, Ore., May 31, 2017 – PacStar®, a leading developer and supplier of advanced communications solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), today announced the formation of an industry leading panel discussing NSA Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) at the Information Assurance Symposium (IAS) 2017, in Baltimore MD, on Wednesday June 21, 2017.
Thanks to advances in secure wireless communication technologies for Wi-Fi, conducting classified communications over mobile devices using commercial technologies is now possible, even in theater. This panel will present challenges and best practices in developing such systems, from real world experience.
The panel will be moderated by Steven Boutelle LTG, US Army CIO (ret), providing perspectives on the benefits of wireless to the Warfighter, and introducing technical expert panelists Jon Green, Security Architect and Federal CTO, Aruba/HPE, Vikram Kaul, Senior Scientist, Vencore Labs and Rodney Snell, VP Software Development, PacStar. Each of the technical experts have extensive experience designing and delivering hardware and software technologies to major US DoD communications programs based on CSfC.
“Our aim in putting together this panel is to help educate expeditionary and tactical programs to the art of the possible when it comes to classified mobility. We are pleased to have assembled this level of expertise on the panel,” said Peggy Miller, chief executive officer for PacStar. “We believe that our warfighters should be able to reap the benefits of mobility in the same way enterprises and consumers do, but, of course, with the highest level of security. We hope this panel helps facilitate progress towards that goal.”
With careful selection of CSfC certified Wi-Fi, VPN and information security components, wireless solutions can deliver benefits including faster setup time, reduced transportation costs and improved situational awareness. Early adopters of these technologies have developed best practices for the design, integration and management of these solutions which today require numerous components from multiple vendors. The best practices discussed include advanced secure Wi-Fi, VPN and PKI solutions, end user device management and provisioning, and integrated configuration management. By working together, these technologies and practices can deliver benefits to the Warfighter previously out of reach do to cost and complexity.
PacStar, Vencore and Aruba are also exhibiting new technologies at the IAS show, in booth #720, and will have experts on hand to answer questions and provide demos of technologies in action. Please stop by our booth to learn more.
