PacStar was hired by DOD on a $12.2M contract to put together and deliver over 600 units of its communications tech for US forces in Afghanistan. PacStar CEO Bob Dunn says the mobile tactical communications kits provide secure convergence of voice, video over the military’s network. Bob says PacStar’s IQ Core network management software makes the kits able to communicate with Harris’ broadband antennas. The kits will be delivered in batches between now and the end of March. With 50 employees and $70M in revenue, the company works on deals for several DOD customers and NYPD. But Bob says the win will open up so many other doors for the small Portland, Ore.-based company.
